General Pediatrics Department

The General Pediatrics Department of the «Saint Gregory the Illuminator» Medical Center is located on the 4th floor of the therapeutic building (C4).

Pediatric neurology, Diagnostic (Neurophysiological, Functional, Ultrasound) and Rehabilitation services also operate within the Department.

The medical care in the Department of General Pediatrics is provided according to the best standards of evidence-based medicine with the help of skilled and professional pediatricians, who are regularly trained both in Armenia and in the countries of the region, as well as in advanced European clinics.

The diagnosis and treatment of pediatric patients are based on modern international medical standards, clinical guidelines and procedures. (Providing both in-patient and out-patient care).

The Department of General Pediatrics is equipped with the necessary diagnostic instrumental examinations:

  • ECG
  • Echo-CG
  • Ultrasound: thyroid, lymph nodes, joints, lungs, thymus gland, abdominal organs, soft tissues of the small pelvis, testicles.

The following diseases and conditions are diagnosed and treated in the General Pediatrics Department:

  • Fever without localization (febrile diseases before differential diagnosis)
  • Severe acute respiratory infections
  • Acute respiratory infections with complications such as otitis, lymphadenitis
  • Acute obstructive bronchitis, acute laryngotracheitis with respiratory failure
  • Pneumonia
  • Bronchial asthma, and its exacerbations
  • Severe acute tonsillitis
  • Acute tonsillitis with lymphadenitis
  • Chronic tonsillitis, adenoiditis with exacerbation
  • Acute gastritis; dehydration
  • Recurrent gastritis, gastroduodenitis
  • Acute gastroenteritis, enterocolitis
  • Diseases of the liver and biliary tract
  • Exacerbation of pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis
  • Abdominal pain of unspecified origin
  • Recurrent fever of unspecified origin, urinary tract infection, pyelonephritis
  • Acute glomerulonephritis
  • Acute allergic reactions: urticaria with or without angioedema, allergic dermatitis
  • Hemorrhagic vasculitis

Vitamin B12 deficiency anemia:

  • Iron-deficiency anemia
  • Reactive arthritis
  • Arthralgia

The following instrumental examinations are performed within the Pediatric Neurology service:

  • EEG
  • Video-EEG 16h period day/night
  • Video-EEG 24h period day/night
  • Neuro-ultrasound

The Pediatric Neurology service diagnoses and treats the following diseases and conditions:

  • Epilepsy
  • Febrile convulsions/ seizures
  • Headaches: migraine, tension, cluster headaches.
  • Peripheral Neuropathies
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia
  • Encephalitis
  • Meningitis
  • Hypertensive Cerebral Crisis
  • Neuromuscular diseases
  • Perinatal lesions/ or injuries of the central nervous system
  • Demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system: multiple sclerosis
